I make Vellacity move

I'm Harriet Heart. Pop star, producer, and according to Hunter the loudest person on our street. My sound is Electro Hop: 80s hip-hop, pop, dance, R&B and A-pop (that's Afropop), made at home and tested on the roofs.

Lately something in this city has been turning the volume down. I'm not having it.

Harriet Heart · the debut single

Just a little love

My first single. It's about missing someone, and you can still dance to it.

Meet the crew
Harriet Heart in her pink satin bomber with the heart-H mark, gold chain and crystal heart, smiling, arms relaxed

Then the city went quiet

The Hush drain the colour out of a place, then the music. I give both back, one beat at a time.

A Vellacity rooftop drained to grey: Harriet Heart, Hunter and the Hush figures with no colour left at all

Every hit lands on the beat. Every beat paints a colour back.

The same rooftop with the colour back: Harriet Heart in pink and lilac, Hunter mid-kick, and paint bursting yellow, pink and cyan across the grey Hush figures

The crew

My friends. Every one of them brings their own colour.

  • Hunter smiling, short coily hair, a black haori with red trim over a white tee

    Hunter

My twin, and he always wants the last word.

  • Zeienka with a sleek green bob, a green blazer and a green bow tie

    Zeienka

Green, head to toe. Never, ever messy.

  • Daisuke with spiky dark hair, an orange utility jacket and a round pendant

    Daisuke

Builds things. Some of them even work.

  • Asher in tortoiseshell glasses and a black kippah, with curled side locks and a blue cardigan

    Asher

Best piano player on our street. Don't get him started on reggae.

  • Taaliah smiling in a lavender hijab with gold trim and a purple top

    Taaliah

Keeps her word, even when nobody's watching.

  • JJ with a high-top fade, in a yellow zip jacket

    JJ

Street dancer. Best pop-lock in Vellacity, and he knows it.

  • Rory grinning, a full mop of copper curls, black headphones round his neck, a copper track jacket

    Rory

Runs the rooftop station. Tells me when the kick is late.

  • Sir-Rio, a small chrome robot with round speaker shoulders and a cyan heartbeat light

    Sir-Rio

He's shy, so around strangers he folds into a boom box.

Vellacity

Say it like velocity. Everything here hovers, even Dad's night cab.
